House Hunters

In true Karina fashion...my life has been crazy lately! I should be use to it by now, but it still shocks me how much I pile on my plate! Since my last posting we have looked at 17 other houses in person and multiple others online. We put another offer on a house last weekend, and ended up in another bidding war. Seriously, I mean it's good the market is turning around up here, but come on people! This one was even more exciting than the last.
2nd house we offered on in the last 2 months

Look familiar? Exactly. We offered on an updated version of the foreclosure house from our December offer. Pretty awesome! This one had bigger square footage, too! Absolutely beautiful! However, we lost this one, too. The other people's offer went over the asking price by $20,000. So I guess they can have it.

Beautiful house isn't it? Yeah we were really bummed we didn't get it. I was really upset because I thought for sure we were locked in. I really saw myself in a house like this. Back to the drawing board, but I had lost interest. Understandable, but really wasn't in the mood to look at houses any more.

With that said, Ian found a new listing in Hastings on Monday afternoon and really wanted me to see it. It is in an ideal location (same road as the hospital), next to the walking/biking trails that run by the Mississippi, decent size, newer, and with an unfinished basement (nice project to work on later). So I looked at the pictures.

Look familiar again? Similar layout, newer build, and we think must be same builder! Awesome! This time in Hastings, though! Even better!

Front Entryway/Foyer....needs paint and an update! Yikes, Blue stair monster!

Hello Kitchen I am longing for!

Viking stove....better learn to use it first

21x20 size master bedroom.....yep....picture it sans maze headboard....really what do people think when they decorate?

Backyard view! Pretty even in winter time!
So this house was put on the market Monday, we saw it on Tuesday at 2pm, put an offer in at 3:30pm, and had a counter offer that we accepted at 9pm. Within six hours we had bought a house. Boom goes the dynamite, people!

Today we signed the final documents, but had a little bit of a glitch with the seller because she kept moving the date on us. First she wanted it earlier, then much later, then earlier again....we think she was stalling because we found out at 12:30pm today that there was another offer waiting to be submitted today. As long as we signed our final purchase agreement and the seller had it in her hands, she could not entertain other offers. However, we were racing against the clock to make sure that happened before 3pm today! So we waited...and waited...everything was faxed and forwarded to the seller by 1:30pm (I had to make a special trip to the hospital to get Ian's signatures...but hey it was worth it), and by 2:15pm we found out the house it ours! By 2:30pm we had an inspection lined up for Monday! Yeah we don't do anything half-assed! We were NOT going to lose this house!

It started snowing today when we found out about the house, too! Pretty awesome! It feels good to finally have a permanent address! Now to begin planning and imagining the decor that I want! :)

Other happenings, I have an all day scrapping event I'm going to in Roseville this Saturday with some ladies I met through a friend of Ian's. Then next weekend I will be in Wisconsin hanging with the family and doing some more crafting. I'm pretty pumped! I have a lot of projects to finish before the move! The official closing date is March 4th, so that will come faster than we can imagine!

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Year! 2013 looks to be a pretty promising one! Stay tuned for housing updates and pictures of the changes we make!
